The earliest known printed work from this press is a Tongan translation of the Gospel of Luke, published in 1831. This was followed by other biblical texts, including the Gospel of Genesis in 1832 and a complete Tongan New Testament in 1835 .
These early printed works played a significant role in the spread of Christianity in Tonga and the development of the Tongan written language. The translation and printing efforts were part of a broader missionary initiative to educate and convert the Tongan population, which included the establishment of schools and the translation of religious texts into the Tongan language.
