Pos Malaysia launched the deepest underwater post box at Layang-Layang Island off the coast of Sabah on 7 August 2015. The event was officiated by YB Dato’ Jailani Johari, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia.
The initiative included the creation of a special postcode for Layang-Layang Island (postcode 88005) and the installation of two post boxes (underwater and on land). Installed on a sledge at a depth of 40 metres, this underwater post box is recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the nation’s deepest underwater post box.
